Tragic Stampede outside Kericho Stadium Kenya claims four lives

A stampede unfolded in outside a stadium Kericho in western Kenya, late-night just hours before President William Ruto lead the celebrations of "Heroes' Day." This resulted in the deaths of four women and left many other injured. A lady selling tea outside the stadium spilled some of it the fire near Gate C along the highway. This led to panic as people perceived it as the release of tear gas and started running. The commotion soon turned into a stampede. 




The victims were taken to the Kericho County referral hospital, where later the four deaths were confirmed. This took place at 3 AM in the morning. "Heroes' Day," is observed on October 20 and it has historical and cultural importance for Kenya. This day is a reminder of the sacrifice and work of those who fought bravely for the nation's independence. Kenya's history that led to its hard-fought independence is celebrated on this day.
