NIFOR will increase palm oil production in Nigeria. What Should We Worry About?
The Nigerian Institute for Oil Palm Research (NIFOR) and Luscei Investment Limited have formed a new partnership with the goal of increasing Nigeria's production of palm oil. Here's how it works: A 40-hectare area of free palm tree seedlings will be provided to Luscei Investment using NIFOR's Extension Works Seed (EWS) farms. The planting, maintenance, and harvesting of the trees will be handled by this private enterprise, but NIFOR will oversee everything. This 20-year partnership will support the expansion of Nigeria's palm oil sector. Dr. Celestine Ikuenobe, the executive director of NIFOR, said that collaborations are necessary to improve the quality of their work. Director of Luscei Investment Oluseyi Adeleke said this relationship has already increased the productivity of their farm and generated huge palm oil companies.
