Ambulances shuttled these patients from nearby hospitals and directly from Gaza to the aircraft, which was uniquely modified for medical transport. After intense discussions involving various nations like the United States, Israel, Egypt, and the United Nations, the Rafah crossing point situated between Egypt and Gaza is re-opened. This allows 20 Egyptian trucks with medical supplies to cross. As per the agreement only 20 trucks carrying aid aupplies from the Egyptian Red Crescent to the Palestinian Red Crescent organization will be permitted on Saturday. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the director general of the World Health Organization stated that the medical supplies being brought into Gaza "include medicines for trauma and chronic disease, as well as basic essential medicines." Additionally he raised the demand that humanitarian workers be protected.
