Parallel government formed in Sudan
Recently, the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) of Sudan, along with their allies, signed a charter to establish a parallel government, according to a report from Agence France-Presse. This signing took place in Nairobi and occurs amidst a conflict that has pitted the RSF against the regular Sudanese army for nearly two years.
The signed document aims to create a "government of peace and unity" in areas controlled by the rebels. The signatories committed to establishing a secular and democratic state, promising to end hostilities and ensure unimpeded humanitarian access.
In response, the Sudanese Minister of Foreign Affairs stated that the government would not recognize this new entity. Developments surrounding this charter raise concerns about the country's future stability and the potential for further fragmentation.
