Disney and Kugali envision a futuristic Nigeria with the “Iwàjù” series.

 


Dive into the futuristic world of "Iwàjù," an innovative animated series set in Nigeria. The narrative unfolds amidst vibrant landscapes, portraying both the magnificence and challenges of the megalopolis. Addressing themes like salary disparity, the show provides a realistic exploration of life in future Nigeria.

Director and Kugali co-founder, Ziki Nelson, describes "Iwàjù" as a heartfelt tribute to Lagos, aiming for authenticity in crafting the tale. The series, a collaboration with Disney, breaks new ground for the entertainment giant by combining science fiction, an African setting, a gripping crime narrative, and Afrobeat music.

Kugali co-founders, immersed in global animated series during their upbringing, take pride in contributing to the transmission of African culture. Toluwalakin Olowofoyeku, cultural consultant and Kugali co-founder, sees "Iwàjù" as a continuation of this tradition, promoting African storytelling and culture.

"Iwàjù" on Disney+ stands as the company's first African story, offering a unique narrative that entertains while serving as a platform for cultural exchange and celebrating African creativity.
