Morocco Assists Earthquake-affected Areas in a Housing Initiative

Morocco announced a plan to help those harmed by a major earthquake that occurred a week ago. The Al-Haouz area, which is close to Marrakesh, a popular destination for tourists, was struck by the greatest earthquake to ever occur in Morocco. Sadly, it resulted in over 5,600 injuries and almost 3000 deaths.

Mohamed VI, the King of Morocco, declared that the people who lost their homes would be given temporary shelter. These locations will be well-constructed and fully stocked with everything consumers require. Additionally, the government will provide emergency relief to impacted homes in the amount of around $3,000.

The plan's goal is to assist around 50,000 homes that were either entirely or partially destroyed by the earthquake, and this is just the first step in that process.

How many people were forced to leave their homes as a result of the earthquake is unknown. Whole towns were destroyed as a result of the earthquake that struck Morocco's Atlas Mountains.

The royal government has decided to offer 80,000 dirhams for partially damaged buildings and 140,000 dirhams (about $13,600) for entirely collapsed buildings.

Spanish, British, Qatari, and United Arab Emirates search and rescue teams have all been welcomed in Morocco. However, it rejected offers of assistance from states including the United States, France, and certain Middle Eastern countries.

At a height of more than 1,400 meters, Imi N'Tala is a tiny town in the Toubkal Mountains. The town is situated along a winding, narrow road that provides incredible views of the High Atlas mountain range.

Tragically, in the horrific earthquake reduced the community to ruins, more than 84 individuals, 20 of them were children, died. Among the victims were numerous elderly citizens.

The bodies are being searched after by search teams, and one body has been discovered so far. When their house collapsed, 11-year-old Youssef At Raiss was there with his younger brother. They were terrified as they were caught under the rubble. While their 16-year-old brother is currently being treated at Marrakech University Hospital, they sadly lost their grandmother.
