Victor Osimhen becomes first Nigerian to receive a nomination for the Ballon d'Or


Victor Osimhen who is a well-known football player from Nigeria has made history by being the first Nigerian player to be nominated for the Ballon d'Or award since Nwankwo Kanu in 1999. He plays as a striker for Napoli in the Serie A league and also represents the Nigerian national team.  He is considered one of the best football plyer in the world.

The Ballon d'Or is a special yearly football award organized by a French magazine called France Football since 1956. At this event, they give awards to the best football players in the world.

This year, Victor Osimhen is in the running for the Ballon d'Or alongside two other famous players: Lionel Messi from Argentina and Erling Haaland from Norway. Messi is very well-known, and Haaland plays for Manchester City in the Premier League.

Osimhen achieved some impressive things in the past year. He helped Nigeria qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations, which is a big football tournament in Africa. He also scored the most goals for his club Napoli in the Serie A league, with a total of 26 goals. This is a remarkable achievement for him.
