Re-election hopes of Egypt's President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi

Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi is contesting the elections again in December and this is right in between the economic issues in the country.

The elections are planned to be held in from December. This is a variation from the spring elections in 2024 and is due to the economic challenges faced by the country at present.

The rate of inflation is at a high of 40%;the recent devaluation of the Egyptian pound by 50% is the cause of the rise in the prices of goods. This has put pressure on the government.

There are other several candidates looking to compete with the President, and Ahmed Altantawy, is among the others in the race.

This election is a very crucial one with the underlying economic concerns and the outcome will decide the future course. The country's stability and future lies on the results of the election.

The applications are to be submitted in October. The campaign period officially starts from November 9th to November 29th, 2023.
