BBNaija’s Chichi And Phyna Clash Over ‘Wig-Renting’ Controversy

Former Big Brother Naija competitor Chichi and well-known Nigerian actress, model, and performer Phyna—who won Big Brother Naija Season 7—become entangled in a disagreement centered around an issue surrounding wig rentals.

Phyna was made fun of by Chichi for the wig-renting claim made by DBeauty Mogul, a merchant. The dealer accused Phyna of failing to return a "rented" wig within the stipulated rental time. But Phyna rejected them as clout chasers and denied any connection to the vendor. Chichi stepped in, escalating the argument.

Chichi encouraged her fans on the platform X (formerly Twitter) to purchase wigs from her company, WigsByElla, highlighting the product's high quality and reasonable price. She also cautioned against wearing wigs borrowed from others, alluding inadvertently to Phyna. In response to someone accusing Chichi of being obsessed with Phyna on social media, Chichi defended herself by highlighting Phyna's role in wig rental and pricing.

When Phyna was publicly urged to return a rental wig on social media by a wig owner, the drama escalated. Screenshots that were circulated showed discussions about the wig's cost between Phyna's staff and the seller. Phyna called the wig owner a "clout chaser" and said that her management team may have handled the deal without telling her, accusing her of blackmail.

By utilizing an alleged conversation between Phyna and the hair dealer to haggle over the price of the wig, Chichi fanned the flames even more.

Born on June 2, 1997, in Edo State, Nigeria, as Ijeoma Josephina Otabor, Phyna started her career as a commercial model while still a college student. After winning Big Brother Naija Season 7 (Level Up), she rose to prominence and went on to sign endorsement deals with a number of companies, including Spedy Herbals, Firegin, BeUnique Wears, Rixari Skin Secrets, and Spedy Weightloss.
