Saif bin Zayed heads UAE delegation to 41st Arab Interior Ministers Council

 


On February 26, 2024, H.H. Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, led the UAE delegation to the 41st session of the Arab Interior Ministers Council in Tunis, Tunisia. The meeting, attended by interior ministers from Arab nations and representatives of regional and international organizations, focused on strengthening joint Arab cooperation in security and police matters.  General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s Visit to Tunisia:

H.H. Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan arrived in Tunis on February 25, 2024, and was warmly received by Kamel Feki, Tunisia's Minister of the Interior, Dr. Mohammad bin Ali Kuman, Secretary-General of the Arab Interior Ministers Council, and Dr. Iman Ahmed Al Salami, UAE Ambassador to Tunisia. He also met with Kais Saied, President of Tunisia, at Carthage Palace, conveying greetings from President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

### Highlights of the Session:

1. **Address by General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan:**
   - Emphasized the UAE's commitment to enhancing joint Arab efforts against contemporary security challenges, including terrorism, extremism, cybercrime, and organized crime.
   - Stressed the significance of fortifying the Arab Interior Ministers Council's role and capabilities as a platform for exchanging experiences, developing strategies, and fostering cooperation.

2. **UAE’s Security and Police Initiatives:**
   - Shared UAE achievements and initiatives, such as the launch of the Arab Police Sports Federation, establishment of the Arab Police Academy, and hosting the World Police and Fire Games in 2024.

UAE’s Role in Discussions:

- H.H. Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan actively participated in discussions, providing views and suggestions on various topics, including the implementation of previous session resolutions, activities of the Arab Interior Ministers Council, and cooperation with regional and international organizations.

Agreements and Memoranda of Understanding:

- The UAE delegation signed agreements and memoranda of understanding, including an agreement on information and expertise exchange in civil defense and a memorandum of understanding to enhance cooperation in combating human trafficking.
