Al Hilal crowned, Neymar hails title-winning teammates
Al Hilal, the Gulf kingdom's powerhouse, clinched their fourth Saudi Professional League title in five years, thwarting Cristiano Ronaldo's bid with Al Nasr, who trailed by 12 points. This victory marks the 19th domestic title for the Saudi football giants.
Neymar, absent due to injury, rejoiced in his Al Hilal teammates' triumph in the Saudi Arabian league and eagerly anticipated his return for the upcoming season. The Brazilian sensation, who joined Al Hilal from Paris Saint-Germain last summer, sustained a cruciate ligament tear while on international duty, sidelining him for the season after contributing three assists in three appearances.
Expressing his joy at the title celebrations following Al Hilal's 4-1 victory over Al Hazm, Neymar emphasized his excitement to reunite with the team on the field next season, acknowledging the incredible support from the fans.
Al Hilal secured the league title with three matches remaining, boasting an impressive record of 29 wins out of 31 games. Their next challenge awaits in the Riyadh derby against Cristiano Ronaldo's side, as Al Hilal remain undefeated domestically this season.
In a noteworthy feat earlier in the season, Al Hilal surpassed the Premier League record with 27 consecutive wins, previously held by the club itself in 2016-17. This achievement broke a 44-year record set by Dutch giants Ajax.
The Public Investment Fund (PIF), aimed at diversifying the Saudi economy, includes members of the Saudi 'Big Four' clubs, namely Al Hilal, Al Nasr, Al Ittihad, and Al Ahli.
The anticipation continues as Al Hilal and Al Nasr prepare to clash again in the King's Cup final on 31 May.
