Kazan Hosts 16th BRICS Summit Under Russia’s 2024 Chairmanship

 

The city of Kazan, Russia, is hosting the 16th annual BRICS Summit from October 22-24, as part of Russia's 2024 chairmanship of the bloc. Key discussions at the summit will focus on strengthening multilateralism, welcoming new members, and tackling regional challenges. Russian President Vladimir Putin is leading the summit and holding bilateral talks with leaders from India, China, South Africa, Egypt, and Brazil.

Taking place in the Republic of Tatarstan, the summit brings together heads of state and representatives from international organizations. Russia assumed the BRICS presidency on January 1, 2024, a year that began with the bloc’s expansion, further enhancing global cooperation.
