Real Madrid faces injury crisis ahead of Copa del Rey Quarter-Final

 

Real Madrid will be without several key players when they face Leganes in the Copa del Rey quarter-finals on Wednesday. Antonio Rudiger is set to miss the match after picking up a hamstring injury against Espanyol, with the defender expected to be sidelined for around three weeks. The team will also be without Dani Carvajal and Eder Mili-tao, while there's uncertainty around Eduardo Camavinga after missing the last five matches with his own hamstring injury.

Despite these absences, Real Madrid will still be favourites to progress, having beaten Leganes 3-0 earlier this season at Bu-tarque, with Kylian Mbappé, Federico Valverde, and Jude Bellingham all scoring in that victory.

The team will be looking to bounce back from their shock 1-0 loss to Espanyol in La Liga at the weekend when they face Leganes on Wednesday for a place in the Copa del Rey semi-finals.

US Updates Uganda Travel Advisory over Anti-LGBT Law

According to a note that was released on Monday evening by the State Department, the United States has modified its travel advice for Uganda following the promulgation in May of the “ Anti-Homosexuality Law 2023 “,  which is considered to be one of the most repressive laws in the world. The legislation imposes severe punishments on anyone who engages in homosexual activity or “promotes” homosexuality by encouraging others to do so. In Uganda, the punishment of execution for the offence known as “aggravated homosexuality” has not been carried out in many years, despite the fact that it carries the death penalty. The United States Department of State, which had already warned its citizens to “reconsider travel” to Uganda because of the terrorist attacks and crime rate, stated that the enactment of the anti-homosexuality law “increases the risk that LGBTQI+ individuals, and those perceived to be LGBTQI+, will be prosecuted and sentenced to life imprisonment or death.”...

President Rajoelina of Madagascar Plans to Run for Re-Election.

 Andry Rajoelina, Madagascar's President, declared his intention to run for president again in November during a lavish event in the country's largest stadium.  Rajoelina first came to power in 2009, when the former president was deposed in a coup. He was re-elected in 2018 after declining to run in 2013 due to worldwide criticism. The president, made the declaration in Antananarivo , Madagascar's capital, expressing his willingness to represent the Malagasy people. During his term, he emphasized infrastructure development, naming schools, courts, and jails built in the last five years. Rajoelina referred to himself as a "builder president" and expressed determination to overcome obstacles. However, in recent months, there have been concerns raised concerning his dual citizenship with France.
